1. Student Ambassador Program- Apply Now

It’s that time of year again and we’ve started the recruiting process for the Rice Student Ambassador Program!  I am hoping to get at least 40 more students on board this year. Do you mind distributing the attached flyer to the students in your college? This program is very important to us. Our Student Ambassadors represent Rice University; they are responsible for giving our visitors a better understanding of student life and a sense of the collegiate campus atmosphere.  Students may apply today at www.rice.edu/amb for more information on the Student Ambassador Program. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 11 by 5:00p.m.  If you have any question, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

5. Stride for Stroke Event

On Saturday, 03/08/08, the university will welcome back to campus the Stride for Stroke 5K event.  The following information is provided to help make for an enjoyable event with fewer disruptions to the university community:

1.  Please do not park along the Laboratory Road portion of the Inner Loop from 6:00 AM through 10:30 AM, Saturday.

2.  Help us reserve the South Stadium Parking Lot for the start/finish of the race.  Please don't park in this lot between 10:00 PM, Friday and 12:30 PM Saturday.

3.  Keep in mind that there will be short traffic delays along the route (I have attached the route map) and that Entrances 1, 1A, 17, 18, and 20 will be closed during the walk/run from approximately 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM.

4.  If you need to come to campus during the event you might consider using open entrances on the south side of campus and Entrance 8.

5.  The course will be marked with traffic cones and manned by University

Police Officers and event volunteers.  Please be alert for their directions.

Thank you for your help in making this event a success.
