1. Rice University Citizens Police Academy Class # 6

Class # 6 of the Rice University Citizens Police Academy still has some remaining spots available. Enrollment has been very active for this class and we are looking forward to another enjoyable session.

If you want to know what it takes to be a peace officer, learn how to dust for and lift fingerprints from a scene, what it feels like to make a traffic stop, can I shoot a gun and hit the target, can I make the right decision in a high stress situation, then this is the class you will not want to miss.

We will meet each Monday evening beginning January 25, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Rice University Police Training Center. CPA Class # 6 will end on April 19 with a class graduation ceremony.
Review the attached information then go to http://www.rupd.rice.edu/cpa to enroll in the class.
We hope to see you in January !

2. Reminder about library books

To all undergraduate students:

Please remember to return your library materials before you leave campus following final
exams. To check for books charged to your account, due dates, fines, recalls, and to
renew books online, go to:

http://alexandria.rice.edu/uhtbin/cgisirsi/x/FONDREN/0/122/2910

NOTE: Access your account using your Net ID and Password. We no longer use library PINs
for Rice accounts.

If you use the online renewal feature, please verify that the books listed on your
account are in your possession.

The last due date for the fall semester is 12/16/2009, so books due before that date may be renewed online now. Fines for overdue materials will accrue during the holidays, even on days the library is closed. Beginning Friday, 12/11/2009, you may borrow books for a 28-day loan period or renew books for another 28 days.

The online renewal feature will not work for the following:
- if you have fines over $5
- if you have any overdue materials or wait until after the due date
- if there is a hold or recall on any item (these will need to be
returned to the library)
- if any items have reached the renewal limit (10 renewals per item)
After renewing, check your account to verify the change in due dates.

If you have any questions about your library account, contact the
Circulation Department staff at 713-348-4021 or email circ@rice.edu.
