1. Flu Shots
What: Annual Flu Shots
When: Next Wednesday, September 24th from 11 AM to 5 PM
Where: Kelley Lounge in the Student Center
How much: $25 by cash, check or credit card
Why: Many students underestimate the importance of getting an annual flu shot. Rice students report that the NUMBER ONE health concern that impacts their academic performance is cold or flu. Since virus strains change annually, a shot from last year isn't necessarily going to protect you this year. Anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu can get vaccinated.

2. Submit your Photos
Send in any and all photos you have from these past few days (and from o-week, move-in, tailgates, and everything else too) … the Thresher and Campanile can use your photos in said publications and give you credit.
Here’s the site: https://images.jostens.com/?user=1191684&pw=rice
It’s not quite facebook style, but the process has you tag people in your photos by typing their names in and then submitting them.
Thanks for your help!

3. An Evening with Stephen Lewis, former UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa
2008 Global Health Technology Speaker Series: Global Health, Opportunities and Empowerment
On behalf of Beyond Traditional Borders and Rice 360°, you are invited to
An Evening with Stephen Lewis
Co-Director, AIDS-Free World
Former UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa
Thursday, September 25, 2008
6:00 PM
James A. Baker III Hall
Rice University
Reception and poster session to follow. This event is free and open to the public.
Stephen Lewis is the author of Race Against Time: Searching for Hope in AIDS-Ravaged Africa. His impassioned speeches, alive with anecdotes ranging from maddening to hilarious to heart-breaking, are a wake-up call for a world falling desperately short of the goals it has set for itself. Lewis probes the appalling gap between vision and current reality in the global fight for an AIDS-free world, but he also offers bracing attainable solutions.

10. U Court
Calling all Freshmen!
Interested in policy or thinking about law school? Want to get involved with student government but don't know how? Want to have a say in how Texas law and the Student Code of Conduct are enforced on campus? If you answered yes to these questions, apply now to be a Freshmen representative to University Court.
U Court is the student-run body that adjudicates violations of the Student Code of Conduct and many Texas state misdemeanors that occur on campus. We meet about twice a month to discuss if and how to charge students for the crimes you see each week in the Thresher's police blotter (and some you don't). If you're interested in getting involved, contact ben.carson@rice.edu for more information or an application. Applications will be due Sunday, the 28th of September at midnight.

11. GO CROSS CAMPUS
Attention Hanszen,
GoCrossCampus has returned to Rice for a re-match and this year we need to get out there and win it. Last year was GXC's first year but now they have worked out all of the kinks and they have a brand new game design with new rules and a new Rice map. Once again it will be college against college but as you will see when you register and start playing, the game is going to be entirely different. This year you are only allowed to control one account per person and the punishments for being caught could mean huge penalties for our team so let's get out there and focus on getting everyone involved since it really does take less than 2 minutes a day. Also we need commanders to step up and lead the team so don't shy away from dedicating your time for the win. [insert college cheer here].
Register today; www.gocrosscampus.com
Game starts Monday September 22^nd .
In Mike and Casey We Trust
