Do you like to run? swim? bike? Ever thought of competing in a triathlon or road race but
aren't sure how to start? RUCT is a club that was formed to unite students who are
passionate about any or all three sports. We participate in both recreational and

We will be having our 2nd general information meeting this coming Wednesday Sept 23rd

about and what events we have planned for the rest of the semester. We have several bike
rides, triathlons, duathlons, road races, swim clinics, and bike clinics planned. Also
come hear about some of the amazing sponsorships you will have access to as a member of
the club, including huge discounts off Trek road bikes.

4. Weekly college counseling with PAIR

We're involved with PAIR (Partnership for the Advancement and

weekly College Counseling Program. On Fridays, we'll be going to Los
Arcos Apartments to hold sessions from 5 - 6 pm with a mix of high
school juniors/seniors and freshmen/sophomores. Many of these refugees
are Bhutanese, Nepalese and Congolese and most of them have just
arrived here during the summer.

Right now, we're in the process of recruiting volunteers. We are
expecting roughly 25 kids, so we want as many volunteers as possible
in order to afford these kids some personalized attention. We're also
looking for volunteers with cars who would be willing to drive.
Reimbursement for gas is provided.

Please email us back at Lt5@rice.edu if you're interested in
attending our first session THIS FRIDAY.

10. Speakers for Cyber Security Awareness Month

s the number of electronically completed communications, projects, and
financial transactions increases, so does cyber crime.

Cyber security issues can be merely frustrating as in the case of poorly
worded phishing messages, or they can have serious repercussions with
crimes ranging from electronic stalking and reputation bashing (also
known as cyber abuse) to stolen identity and credit card information.

You can increase your awareness of these risks and steps to protect
yourself and your family during October, National Cyber Security
Awareness Month (NCSAM).

IT is sponsoring a different topic each week, with lunch hour discussions by professional
security officers or panel talks by teens and parents.

1. September 28 - Facebook use and risks for teens
2. October 7 - Security vs. Privacy at home
3. October 13 - Password Management for all your accounts
4. October 22 - Identity Theft: Prevention and Recovery
5. October 30 - Credit Information Theft: Prevention, Monitoring,
and Recovery

Details can be found in the Rice Events Calendar or on the IT
Security web page: http://it.rice.edu/security.aspx
