Our ally in security, the U.S. Department of State and the Overseas Security Advisory Council, has issued an advisory for anyone traveling in Mexico. The United States and Mexico are working to provide a safe and secure travel experience and distributed this advisory related to those issues.
You will find valuable information regarding entry requirements, necessary documents, travel location information, and certain laws in “Spring Break in Mexico, Know Before You Go” (“college students taking spring break in Mexico).

7. Stride4Stroke (yeah walk it out)
Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the United States and the primary cause of serious long-term disability in Americans. In Harris County, which is located in the nation’s “stroke belt,” the stroke death rate is twice the national average. In response to this enormous public health threat, The Methodist Hospital established the five-year Taking Strides4Stroke Community Stroke Awareness Campaign. All funds raised through the campaign benefit the Methodist Neurological Institute and its community stroke outreach education initiative.
Fellow Owls, I would like to extend an invitation to you to join The Methodist Hospital’s third annual Stride4Stroke 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, March 7 at Rice Stadium. To register, visit the Stride4Stroke website; you can sign up independently or as part of a team. With your participation cost of $25, you will raise awareness of stroke, enjoy a jaunt around the outer loop, and receive a Stride4Stroke t-shirt.
I hope to see you there!
Marie Parks (Martel ’08)
