Hey y'all,
Bummed about not having a date fore Valentines? Well, why not come have 30! CAPPs Sex and Relationship Committee is hosting Speed Dating/Mingling in Sammy's Cafe on February 12th, 8-10pm. It's a perfect way to come hang out, meet new people, play games, and laugh a lot. You can just go downstairs at 10pm for an awesome Crush Party to continue your night of fun!

2. Student Worker Needed
Busy office needs responsible office assistant for:
Routine office duties such as handling phone messages, calls from
the public, many office visitors, sending emails to faculty and
majors, filing, and updating databases (in Excel).
Responsibilities in relation to the annual East Asia Institute, a
faculty development program for area secondary teachers.
Good spelling a must, and attention to small details is very important. OFFICE EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED. Office can get very hectic but is a pleasant, friendly place to work. Hours are flexible. Starting salary is $8.00 an hour for undergrads and outstanding work is quickly acknowledged with raises.

The Nirvana Sessions are returning to Rice next week!
Take 20 minutes to focus on your wellbeing and reap the benefits. These guided imagery sessions help decrease tension and increase concentration. Coming by for regular relaxation sessions can yield long-term health benefits and reduce symptoms caused by stress and anxiety. Take time for yourself and drop in next week.
The Nirvana Sessions are offered three times per week beginning Janurary 27th in the RMC Chapel (located next to the Student Center)
Evening Nirvana on Tuesdays, 5:00-5:20 PM
Noontime Nirvana on Wednesdays, 12:30 - 12:50 PM
Afternoon Nirvana on Thursdays, 3:30 - 3:50 PM

4. Summer research opportunities for undergraduates
Applications are now being accepted from undergraduate students who are interested in applying for the SURF program. This program provides selected students with 11 weeks of mentored-research experience at one of their two locations at Gaithesburg, MD (http://www.surf.nist.gov/surf2.htm) or
Boulder, CO (http://surf.boulder.nist.gov/). For more information about the program, eligibility, program contacts, stipend levels and research areas, please visit the aforementioned websites. Students who are interested in applying to both these locations will have to submit two separate applications.
Since the Office of Sponsored Research is required to pool and submit all the student applications as a single institutional application (to each location), we request that you submit all the required documents described in the above websites and highlighted below, no later than 5:00 PM, Monday, February 9th.
The following materials must be submitted for each application:

1. R & A form - http://osr.rice.edu/forms/RandAForm.doc Please clearly indicate on the R&A form (in the "Remarks" section) which location you are interested in applying to. The R&A form has to be signed by the Principal Investigator (the student applicant's research mentor/advisor). Please contact R. V. Balaji (ext. 6203) if you have questions about completing this form.
2. Budget and Budget justification
