Prop 8: The Future of Gay Marriage

Local ACLU lawyer Sunshine Swallers will talk about the legal consequences of California's Prop 8 vote to ban gay marriage and what it means for the rest of the country. Q&A will help lead a discussion afterwards.

3. Tudor Tailgate
TUDOR TAILGATE!!!!
What are you doing this Saturday at 1pm?? Well, if you are looking
for food, games, and live music then come out to the pre-game Tudor
Tailgate on the Intramural Fields. This event is celebrating the Grand Opening of our new gymnasium, Tudor Fieldhouse, with the men's basketball season opener vs. Portland State following at 3pm!! There will be Dominos, Jersey Mikes, and Mission Burrito - free t-shirts and face painting - games and bands!! Come out and enjoy the festivities while supporting your Rice Owls Basketball team for their 1st home game!!!

4. FREE LOVETT CABARET TICKETS
Hey Rice! Lovett's Musical /*Cabaret*/ opens this Thursday. The show is quite grandiose, and thus we need lots of running crew. We run this weekend as well as next weekend, so we are offering *free tickets *for those willing to volunteer.

If you work one weekend, we will allow you and one other to come watch the show free. If you are interested, please email Tommy.Mings@rice.edu and include your name and which weekend you would like to work. Please respond as quickly as possible to we can begin training you. Thanks all!

Rice for Peace is hosting a free lunch with Brandon Neely of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). Brandon served in Guantanamo Bay and Iraq. He'll be talking about his experiences in the army and his work with IVAW.

7. Honor Council Mock Hearing
We are having a Mock Hearing/Open Meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 11/11) from 8:15-9:15 in DH 1070. There will be refreshments provided, so if you've ever been wondering about how the Honor Council works, this is your opportunity to have your questions answered.

8. Fencing Clinic-November 18
Fencing Clinic: The art of fencing as an Olympic sport

Mauro Hamza, Fencing Coordinator for Rice University and two-time coach of
the Egyptian Olympic fencing team, will be hosting a 3-weapon clinic at the
Rice Recreation Center on November 18th. The clinic will consist of
exercises and drills for developing and improving fundamental fencing
abilities and will conclude with some live sparring. All levels of fencers
are welcome and the event is open to the public. Equipment will be provided.
