COME AUDITION FOR OUR SPRING PRODUCTION
THEA 331 - Theatre Production - Variable Credit
AUDITIONS: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24th, Hamman Hall Studio 7-10.
Stop Kiss by Diane Son, directed by Matt Huff, a professional director recently relocated to Houston from Atlanta. The plot is simple, girl meets girl, they talk about their boyfriends, they feel an unspoken, growing attraction, they finally kiss. That one innocent kiss sets off a savage gay-bashing. But the play moves beyond the violence with grace and wit to bring us all to unexpected places.
NEEDED: 3 men, 3 women.

10. Holiday Rideshare Program
I hope everything is going along well with the semester winding down.

With the holidays coming up, it?s time to figure out how to get home!

SA RIDE FINDER ? find a ride from your fellow Rice students!
http://sa.rice.edu/ride_finder

If you have a car, please volunteer to take people with you! Meet new people and they might even pay for your gas. Besides, you?re probably going there already anyways!

We really need your help on this one because people won't be able to find a ride unless you guys offer rides. So please contribute!

RICE SHUTTLE SERVICE
http://parktrans.rice.edu/holiday.cfm

There will be scheduled Rice shuttles taking students to Hobby Airport before Thanksgiving and taking students back from the airport after Thanksgiving.

12. Volunteer for the Boy Scouts
Volunteer to be a unit commissioner with the Boy Scouts and get free Rocekts tickets!

What this means: As a unit commissioner you will be responsible for contacting (e-mail or phone or visit) Boy Scouts units in the Houston area and seeking their opinion on how they feel the meetings are going once a month. The Boy Scouts are very flexible so this won't be a big time commitment.

As an incentive, Boy Scouts is offering free Rocket tickets for the Dec. 5th game against the Warriors for anyone who signs up.

To sign up: pick up the application form on the RSVP office door (outside the RMC) and return it to the same place.

14. New Soci Courses Added
Rice students --

I know registration for Spring 2009 just ended, but we've had a late addition to the spring offerings for sociology:

Sociology 360: Sociology of Culture. MWF 11-11:50am. The class will be taught by Dr. Suzanna Crage, a visiting
professor who will be teaching in the department this year, and probably next year as well.

The course informaton has been submitted to the registrar, and students can add the course at any time. Dr. Crage
doesn't have office space with us yet, so I can sign any Add forms on her behalf if you'd like to add this course now,
rather than waiting until spring semester, if you'd like.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

15. Safety Brochure Contest
GREETINGS FROM RUPD AND YOUR CAMPUS WATCH CAPTAINS!!

We realize that the Holidays can be a stressful time of year. There never seems to be enough time or money. Unfortunately, though, there tends to be an increase in criminal activity. We would like for all of you to have a Safe and Happy Holiday. RUPD and the Campus Watch Captains are hosting a Safety Brochure Contest. The Winner will receive a $50.00 Visa Gift Card and the Runner Up will receive a $25.00 Visa Gift Card. In addition, the winning entry will be posted across campus to remind everyone of what to do and what not to do during this Holiday Season. The contest is simple. Safety Tips are provided or you may provide your own. Each flyer submitted must include 3 to 7 tips. The flyers will be judged on creativity, originality and Safety Awareness.

SAFETY TIPS:

Before you leave campus…..

REGISTER and SECURE your bike properly.

SECURE your room door and windows. If you can…. take valuables such as I Pods, cameras, video games, etc.

Anytime…Anywhere….

Always be aware of your surroundings. If talking on your cell phone…don’t look down…look around!

Park your vehicle in a well lit area whenever possible. Have your keys ready as you approach your vehicle. Scan the area underneath and around your vehicle. Check your back seat as you enter. If you have a security remote….be aware if anyone is nearby. Lock your doors as soon as you are inside.

DO NOT leave packages and other valuables in open sight. Secure them in the trunk or beneath the seat.

Try not to carry large amounts of cash. Have only 1 credit card to keep up with when shopping.

If you feel you are being followed…..RETURN to the last place you felt safe….If not, drive to a Police or Fire Station. Maintenance your vehicle….keep gas in the tank, have the oil changed when due and check tire pressure regularly.
