So, NOD is coming up this Saturday, October 25, and traditionally, SOAR (Students Organized Against Rape) provides carts to transport NOD-goers safely back to their respective colleges throughout the party. This year, the Sexual Violence Prevention Committee of CAPP (College Assistance Peer Program) is taking over. If you are interested in being a NOD (golf) cart driver, email me (sws2@rice.edu) by Thursday, October 23. We need about 24 drivers (2 drivers each for 3 carts per 1 hour shift). With entertaining discussion of both candidates? policies, their VP candidates, and other important topics, The Informed Voter is a perfect way to learn a little something before you vote. 4. Submit Nominations for Homecoming 2008
Hey Rice,
It's true that NOD is just around the corner, we can almost touch Halloween, and the 2008 election is within spitting range, but let's focus on something more important for a second: the Rice Homecoming Election. Each year, a couple of people/places/things, in utmost dignity, have the supreme honor of being crowned Rice Homecoming King and Queen. (Last year's winners were Todd Graham and the green fences). Voting for Homecoming will take place in the days before Halloween, but you can't vote if we don't have a ballot! Submit your nominees for Homecoming King or Queen to Student Association Election Chair Timothy Faust at awesome@rice.edu by Saturday, October 25, and try to get your candidate on the ballot!
Best,
Timothy Faust
SA Elections Chair

5. Free ice cream at the Sexual Health Resources Panel
Who knew you can get condoms from over 21 locations on campus?
Come to the Sexual Health Resources Panel in the Sid Rich Commons this Tuesday, October 21, at 9:00 pm to learn more about the resources available to you on campus and in Houston, including condoms, Plan B, STD testing, abortion services, adoption agencies, relationship counseling and pregnancy counseling. Dr. McKelvey from Health Services and student representatives will be present to talk about sexual health on campus.
There will also be free ice cream and condoms!!
Please come, especially freshman! We know its hard to pay attention during all the O-week presentations, and a lot of this information isn't covered. It will be a short, laid back event...
Any questions? Email Dayna Fondell at dfondell@rice.edu
Brought to you by Rice for Choice.

6. Lindy Hop class pushed back a week
RSDS is expanding the number of classes offered! A beginners' Lindy Hop class will begin on THURSDAY, OCT 30th at 8:00.
Lindy Hop is an 8-count dance, which is the classic original swing dance begun in the first part of the 20th century. More info at: rsds.rice.edu
If you can't wait that long, come out and dance with us this Thursday (Oct. 23) starting at 6:30 in Ray Courtyard (no lessons, just music). Or check out one of our other classes on the site.

7. Slow Burn Halloween Show: Friday at 9pm
What's better than Halloween? Nothing! But Slow Burn's Halloween show should come pretty close. Slow Burn is Rice's longform improvisation troupe: with one suggestion, we make twenty- to thirty-minute stories with no preparation and from the tops of our heads and tips of our tongues. We have a pretty stellar lineup for this show, featuring some brand-new forms never before seen at Rice. Come prepared to enjoy yourself and leave taller, stronger, and with more clearly-defined abs.
SLOW BURN
Friday, October 24 (the day before NOD - make a wise choice the night before you make a series of terrible choices)
9 - 10.05 pm
Herring Hall 100
(We'll even have some Halloween candy. What other performance groups give you free candy? None of them. Not even the Phils. Take that, 'Africa'.)
